Kristin's journey to yoga began, like many, as a high school fitness practice, an on-again, off-again relationship often interrupted by life's demands. Yet, the practice always called her back. It was in 2021, embracing the rhythm of a new 9-to-5, that Kristin truly committed to a daily yoga routine.

Upon moving to the area, Kristin took a leap of faith and joined a class at Kingfisher Yoga, a decision that immediately felt like coming home. The welcoming, non-judgmental community at Kingfisher provided a stark contrast to her previous studio experiences, fostering a sense of belonging that deepened her practice. After several years as a dedicated student, Kristin embarked on Kingfisher's inaugural Softening of Self Yoga Teacher Training in Spring 2024 "with no intention of teaching – I’m very introverted, I just wanted to grow my own practice." However, through this transformative experience, she "felt a tremendous sense of growth through teacher training and with just a little encouragement, I’m so excited to be teaching at Kingfisher!"

Kristin finds her ideal practice in slower, more meditative classes. She loves the gentle movement of slow flow, complemented by the profound stillness found in yin and restorative practices. This blend is precisely why she cherishes Kingfisher’s Balanced Flow classes – they offer a harmonious mix of all her favorite elements.

Beyond the physical postures (asana) and breathing techniques (pranayama), which Kristin finds essential for grounding and centering, she deeply values the yamas (moral disciplines) and niyamas (positive duties/observances). These limbs of yoga provide a rich ethical framework that extends far beyond the mat, guiding her to be a more compassionate and mindful person in all aspects of life.

Kristin particularly loves teaching Balanced Flow classes. This style mirrors her personal home practice and is her preferred choice as a student at Kingfisher. In her Balanced Flow classes, you can expect a thoughtful progression: starting with gentle movement, flowing through sequences, and then transitioning into 20-30 minutes of restorative yin-style stretches. This flexible structure allows Kristin to intuitively adapt the class to the energy of the room, offering more movement or more stillness as needed.

As a self-proclaimed "big reader" and a statistician by profession, Kristin is eager to expand her offerings beyond traditional yoga, dreaming of integrating her love for learning through potential book or writing clubs. On the mat, as a newer teacher, Kristin is committed to continuous growth. She regularly attends classes from other instructors, always seeking new insights to enrich her own teaching. Her ultimate goal is to provide safe, fun, and deeply relaxing classesthat welcome and benefit every student, regardless of their age, shape, size, or background.

Ready to find your balance? Come join Kristin for a Balanced Flow class and experience the transformative power of yoga in a welcoming and supportive environment!
