During her teaching career, Donna was introduced to yoga as a method of exercise to incorporate into my classes. She was instantly intrigued to learn more about yoga & bring the many benefits it has to her high school students & staff. Through teaching teenagers, Donna discovered the importance of creating a safe & supportive, judgment-free environment. She went on to advise a Yoga Club inclusive for all students.

Donna's love for movement, fitness, & sports guided her to get my BS degree in Physical Education with an Adapted Minor at UW-Madison & a Master of Arts Degree in Teaching. Professionally, Donna taught physical education for 32 years at the high school level. She is a certified Ropes Course Instructor & is referenced in 3 different publications. Donna received training in the Learn to Breathe Curriculum & was part of the Oh Yeah Team where she provided mindful messages to staff.

In November of 2020, Donna received her 200 hour RYT through The Yoga & Ayurveda Center. Her coursework included certifications in Chair Yoga, Restorative & Immersion, & Ayurveda. She also received her Children’s Yoga Certification in August of 2021 & is a Registered Yoga Teacher through Yoga Alliance. There is so much to explore & learn and she looks forward to continuing her growth as a yoga instructor & student.

Her classes begin with a community check in followed by a deep dive into the body with breathwork & stretches to warm up the body in preparation for class including mobility and a brief flow. Donna then guides the class into balancing asanas followed by strength building & core focused asanas that often includes equipment (bands, weights, bar, block, stability ball etc.). Class concludes with some cool down poses &  savasana, taking time to revisit the breath & any theme/intention.

Donna is passionate about guiding people to find joy in movement, as well as different ways to practice mindfulness. She strives to create that mind-body connection in every class she teaches.

“Yoga is not about touching your toes, it’s about what you learn on the way down”
